I can't imagine what could be more important in setting the mood of a house than windows.  You don't see too many depressing gloomy houses that are made of glass.  Humans are obviously drawn to the outdoors, even if it is just to look at it.  That reminds me of a very funny story.  There is a little boy that I know (not mine) who went on a nature walk with the mother of one of his friends and a group of boys.  They hiked over rivers, in the mud, looked for worms and frogs, etc.  At the end of the walk, the boy said to his friend's mom, "Thank you SO much for taking me on this mud walk. My mom would never do this. She's way to pretty."  Like me, that mom might rather look at nature from indoors than experience it in all of its glory (I mean the buggy, muddy, gross kind).  Here are some windows that she and I can sit by and observe nature through:

I think there's something seriously wrong with me! Questions kept popping into my head as I viewed your wonderful pictures - How much would it cost to add window treatments? How can they live without privacy or light control? or, even worse - How on earth would a person keep all of those windows clean?
I never expected the day would come when my logical brain reacted to examples of beautiful interiors faster than my creative brain!
Another great post, Stacy!

I agree 110% Stacy...windows are such an important element! My favorites are the black metal kind...but as a builder that I talked to recently explained to me, they are (ahem) also the most expensive kind (like exponentially more, not just a little more...). I think that might be the first item on the list to get cut if/when we build next year, I hate to say - but it will break my heart! Maybe just one killer accent window...!!! :)

These spaces are just incredible but I find it so frustrating that where I am, any window slightly out of the ordinary is considerably more expensive and have to shipped from the south of the country! I'd kill for some of these windows! (Not really, but I'd consider it!) :)

I totally agree - windows are so important. I'm a sucker for natural light, but you're right Wendi, I have to admit that cleaning some of the ones above would be a nightmare!

Some of these rooms are incredible! I love the room made up totally of small windows! Very original.
