Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Project Reveal

This is a 1930's secretary desk that was in decent shape but was  rejected by the consignment store because they are apparently a dime a dozen.  I broke it in the transformation process....more on that later.  So here's how it looked -- not bad, but a little boring and didn't fit my style anymore:

I used a mix of Graphite and Old White, maybe a 3:1 ratio.  

As you can see, I also broke the trellis inset two seconds in.  Oh well.  Solution?  Tear it all out and pretend it was never there.

Here it is with a full coat of paint:

Next, the sanding to reveal the wood underneath:

I wasn't in love with it it yet, so I brought it in and lived with it for a few days.  I eventually decided to add Gold Leaf Rub n' Buff over the sanded parts:

I finished it with new hardware and a coat of clear wax, and here it is now:

What do you think?  I'm very, very happy with it. I intended it to be a little darker so there would be more contrast with the walls, but I do really like this color.
