My daughter drew this picture recently, and it reminded me how important orange is to children when they draw. I don't know when I lost my love for orange, but it was sometime before I found a passion for decorating. Recently, I have reconsidered orange, especially in its more subdued tones of coral and tangerine, but even in all of its bright glory like in the photo below:
I saw a photo in Traditional Home about 15 years ago, and ripped it out and carried it from home to home for 15 years. But now that I actually have someone to show it to, I can't find it.....figures! But it was a kitchen filled with orange trees like these. I decided then that someday I would have an orangerie. That hasn't happened yet, but maybe someday.....
Orange reminds me of so many happy things in life....summer, creamsicles, the iconic Birkin Bag....and it has, thankfully, come a long way since the days of orange and avacado (think 70's kitchens). I am so happy that the more modern take is coral and turquoise....so beautiful!
Now here is a color trend that I did not see coming....orange and pink.... but it can be so pretty:
I really like the idea of a bit of orange, like in art, bedding, window treatments, or wall of paper:
Doesn't this remind you of Domino? (sniff sniff....how I miss you)
Aren't these beautiful pieces?
Love this fabric, especially with the yellow windows:
Another that looks straight out of the pages of Domino:

Happy Sunday :)
Something else we have in common Stacy - a love of orange. :) Just gorgeous - I love the dining room with all of the chairs upholstered in orange - that's a commitment! :) Such beautiful examples of how orange can be so fresh and young. I also did a post about orange that you might like: http://bjdhausdesign.blogspot.com/2011/02/absolutely-orange.html
I'm a new lover of orange it is definately coming in as a feature colour.
I did a post on orange last year. Does that make me a trendsetter?! ummm... no. But, I agree, I do love it - so bright and cheerful and goes with everything. I love yellow for the same reasons.
