House Updates!! (Foyer, Kitchen, Bedroom)

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Some days I have literally nothing to say, and other days I could write a book. Today is one of those days where I feel like I could write a book.

First, you know I'm having a few things worked on in my house, right? We are extending the kitchen island to accommodate a wine fridge at the end of the island, with a new (larger) countertop:

 And this is the fridge:

The island top is almost certainly going to be honed granite in Absolute Black, like this:

The granite on the counter tops is staying, much as I'd like to change it. I can't change the countertops under the cabinets because it would be prohibitively expensive because of the mirrors on the backsplash. They would all get destroyed in the removal process and I would have to replace them. You don't even want to know how much they cost. So it's out of the question, at least for now.

We are also installing this picture frame molding throughout the foyer, halls, and master bedroom. Here, you can see the boxes all measured out in the foyer:

And here are the moldings in the hall to the bedroom - it just needs painting:

And some more of the bedroom (why oh WHY did I not pull up the shades!?):

I think it is just what this big cavernous room needed to fill in and make it feel more homey. It won't be painted this month because I quite literally ran out of money, but hopefully next month. And then it will be all done! I can't even believe I am saying those words because it seemed like it would never come.

And see the mess? Of course you did - you can't miss it:

This all came out of my closet. It's like those clown cars - there is a bigger pile of clothes and shoes than should have been able to fit:

It's on the floor because I am getting my closets done!! I might be more excited about this than anything. Before, it was just one bar along the back. It is changing to 2 bars on the left, shown here, and shoe and bag shelves on the right:

I'm hoping to have it finished, painted and styled next week - I can't wait to show you!

See you tomorrow!

Fear not Stacy. You know what they say about a reno - it has to get ugly before it gets pretty. But boy, during the process it can feel like a room will never get it's pretty on.
You'll have it all in order in no time I am sure.

Looking great!!! No grass growing under your feet Stacy, I love how you just do things you don't mull over them but get in and get it done. I am loving all the moldings, what a difference!!
Fun to see your projects just when I think it can't get prettier, it does!
