I've been thinking about painting my whole first floor white, because I love the way my kitchen looks since I did that, and I love white rooms in general.  But to tell you the truth, I'm a little scared of all white. So I started looking at "almost white" rooms.  I was actually a little shocked to see how colorful a room can be even with what I would consider to be pretty bland walls.  I also love the monochromatic look, so really it can go either way with beige walls.  I have a bunch of inspiration photos to show you and would love to know what you think.

But FIRST, I have to show you what I made yesterday. I don't sew, AT ALL.  I wish I could, but I find it very frustrating and annoying, and I hate it, and life is too short, right?  So anyway, I had a table that I wanted a fitted skirt for. I didn't really want to hire anyone or ask my good friend who is a seamstress (I save favors from her for the big things)!  So I went after it with 5 yards of blue/gray taffeta, a staple gun, and some trim. That's it, I swear. I even stapled the trim on, but you cant see because the staples got hidden in the trim.  The lamps are from Home Goods ($400 lamps for a fraction...gotta love Home Goods).  While I was at it, I added the extra trim to the ottoman.  The curtains are getting black ribbons on the edges (tonight I hope).  And in the second photo, you can see the door I just painted black. I haven't shown you the doors yet because I'm not finished. Anyway, here is the table:

And here are the beige painted rooms in my latest inspiration file:

Some really beautiful rooms here! It's suprising how colourful you can make a room with a neutral base, and I guess you change it up as much as you want then.

Stacy, I so agree with you. Neutral walls just allow you to go any direction with color . . . and then change it again when you feel like it. Those pictures are proof that tan is not bland! You did a great job with that fitted skirt - such clean lines & pretty! You've got to love what you can do with staple guns & spray paint!
