Swooning over Kitchens (and Barstools)

Friday, August 5, 2011

We've been needing new barstools for quite some time, but are trying to wait until the kids are old enough to stop tipping them over and breaking them.  I don't even want to think of how much I've spent replacing fractured wood barstools. [You can see my kitchen here and here if you want]. The ones we have now are from Home Goods, and frankly, aren't very sturdy. I think their days are limited, so eventually I'll be in the market for new ones.  So of course I've been scouring the internet, determined to make a smart purchase - affordable, beautiful, and sturdy - and I'm convinced that with enough research it can be done.  The kitchen above is pretty much my dream kitchen - a little more modern than mine now, but I absolutely love the island, stools, window seat, curtains, and colors. So, it's modern, but I'd take it in a heartbeat.  Here are some other kitchens, and especially barstools, that I've been eyeing -- not all of them are appropriate for my house, but they're interesting to me nonetheless. I hope you like them, too:

I loved all the pictures but admittedly, my heart skipped a beat with one....I think I'm in love with the kitchen with the banquette to the left of the island, with the bar stools that have like a polka dot fabric? What a charming kitchen!!!! THANKS!!

Stacy, I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite image. Barstools have always been so hard for me to pick, looks, form and function aren't always found in one piece for me. After having years with barstools and children I think just the plain simple stool without a back is the way to go. They are less abtrusive and they function without being harmful to cabinets or the child!! Great line-up as always. Kathysue
PS Blogger was not being very user friendly to leave a comment on your blog today. Not sure if it is on my end or blogger's end.xo

Love the first image by Candice Olson, but, the kitchen with the grey-green island and long benches is stunning, and is definitely my favorite!

We want to make the most of the space in our Manila condo, so I've been looking for a counter with stools that fit neatly under it. All of the kitchens on this page are to die for!

Those stools would look good in my apartment, I think it's just the right height for my counter top.

The two-tone color of some of the pictures are a bit off to me. They look too clinical and a bit cold. I loved the picture with the green stools. Now that looks like a kitchen with a family in mind.

The interior of your house looks very classic and with those stools in place it brings out the warmth of the room.
