Inside a Gem of A Washington DC Home

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

I have a particular affinity for Washington DC because my husband and I went to school there, started our careers there, and more importantly, started our family there.  So I am constantly looking at the gorgeous old townhomes in Georgetown, the mansions in McLean and Alexandria, Virginia, and the lofts in Dupont Circle.  Most of the time, though, I am deeply disappointed once I get inside the house -- they are so historic and beautiful from the outside, but then the boring old floral sofas and lace curtains inside.  When I clicked on this next one, though, I knew from the very first photo that is was going to be AMAZING!!!  Serious heart palpitations.  I am in awe of the is house, and if I had $15 million I would buy it in a heartbeat:

What do you think?  The interiors design reminds me of one of my all-time favorite designer, Tracery Interiors, which I posted about recently.

Wow beautiful indeed!! My son goes to school in DC and I love the whole area too..so much beautiful and inspirational architecture. That house is incredible..so many of the rooms remind me of being in the countryside in Europe not in DC! Amazing....the master needs some "warming up" but the rest of the spaces are fabulous, love all the gorgeous flooring, the luxurious baths, the kitchen...what a great home!!

Tina, I totally agree with you about the master bedroom- almost didn't include it for that reason, but loved the fireplace, so I was kind of 50-50. Not crazy about the bed, but otherwise I adore this house.

wow, it's so minimalist, but you don't need much decor, since there are so many architectural details. Love all the tile and the wood floors!
