Nate! Need I say more?

Thursday, January 26, 2012

So, if you read this blog, you know that I really love Nate Berkus. I'm so sad to be seeing his show go off the air.  I do hope it opens up more time for him to keep doing what I think he does best - design.  Those of you who read my post on Monday know how heavily I am influenced by him, as seen in my new family room plan. Here are some of his amazing rooms:

And my favorite Nate room of all time, his own in Chicago:

Do you love him as much as I do?
Thanks for reading!!

I love Nate Berkus too! Good choice! As far as your question about clicking over I will admit that it doesn't stop me, but it will deter me sometimes. I can get annoyed and just move on to something else. Just my opinion and hope it helps!

I almost always end up clicking to your site anyway so I can "Pin" at least one or two images from each of your posts - so you get my traffic anyway. I subscribe to 150+ design blogs. I have to filter them through my Google Reader, I can't open every single one. I scroll through each post and anything that visually catches my eye I open in a new tab.

There is a a blogger who started doing this a while ago. It annoys me to no end and frankly on days there are 50+ posts sitting in my Reader in the morning, I don't even bother going and looking. Not to mention the overall quality of her content has gone down substantially since she started doing this, so not only am I forced to click to open her blog, it usually proves to be unrewarding and I get even more annoyed at her. I have seriously thought about unsubscribing.

Your biggest asset with your blog is the visual wow of all the great pictures you put in your posts. You are one of the few that I consistently open for that very reason. I am guessing more people with huge numbers of blog subscriptions may pass yours by because it gets lost in the din without the "eye candy on parade effect". I vote no...

Oh no! I didn't know Nate was going off the air! I love his designs. Maybe if his show was a more project-oriented program (like Sarah Richardson or Candace Olsen), it would have been more popular. Oh well, I hate to see him go.

Splenderosa said...

Me too. Love his total creativity in changing blah to beautiful. I don't get to see his show often, but I'm sad he's leaving TV. But certain his future will be fabulous, and anyway...maybe he's going to OWN? xx's

I rarely post comments but bc you asked I decided to let you know how I feel about the email changes. I am a mom of 3 little guys and I love reading your blog but most of the time I have to spend reading blogs is in a min here and there. If it's not super easy for me to open my email and read half now and half after I've cleaned the spilled milk odds are I'll never get around to opening the full post.

I follow you through Google Reader and your last two posts didn't include the photos - not sure if this is the click thru you are talking about. But I usually click thru if I find the topic interesting.

I heard he was going off the air, so sad. I didn't get to watch much but I thought his show was great when I was able to see. These are gorgeous rooms.

Though Nates style is a little more modern than what I go for, I am so won over by his personality and his creative ways. Great showing of his work.

I do subscribe by email to your blog, and no, it doesn't bother me to click over....everyone seems to be doing that. No big deal to click !

Kathysue said...

I subscribe via email but I always click over to the blog or at least I try too. Especially if I see an image I want to pin. I think it is only right to give the blogger proper credit for her pins and hopefully will drive traffic to her/his blog. If we have it sent to our email I think it is because we want to stay in touch with the new post of the blogger so it is only natural to go to their site. Kathysue

I do adore Nate as much as you. And was so hopeful about his show. I was one of the first in the audience - before he was even on the air. But, I did feel then (and therefore not surprised) that this didn't seem like the right venue for him. I think he will soar without the constraints of a tv show. But, I think it's always great to try something new and I'm sure he learned a lot from the experience.

To me....he's first and foremost a very talented designer!

Unfortunately, I do not click on many blogs now that I only get a snip it.

It's my obsession, however, I have a real other job, therefore I don't have the time it takes to click and wait for it to load. But I do understand Money, so maybe you could post a little more that would show us enough to make me want to click!

I too absolutely love Nate and can not wait to see what is around the next corner.

Since it takes me ten seconds to open your full blog, it doesn't bother me. As a blogger, I know how much work goes into keeping a blog up or date and don't think that this is a lot to ask of a reader. What really annoys me are the word verification tools some use to weed out spam. That is really annoying! Nate's work is gorgeous! Easy to see why you love him!

Personally, I don't like it, it's a pain in the rear. I get so many emails like this...I really enjoy just going thru my email at leisure & if I want to check further by going to the actual website, I do. As for will it make me quit reading .... most likely it will eventually. But hey...this is YOUR 'baby' & you need to do what the masses are happy with, right? :o)

I read in Google reader and generally won't click through unless I see something I want to pin on Pinterest. Follow too many blogs to click through to them all.

Yes it's a deterrent for me when the whole post doesn't come through the reader... I just found your blog. Love all the yummy tufted goodness!

Hi Stacy! I love the pictures! This is again a great post and although I've never seen the Nate Berkus show, I do know his work (I've watched Oprah). ;-) Anyway, since they didn't air his show here, I can't really say much about his show, but I do love his work!! These are all great images!
And about your question: since I've got all my favorite blogs in "my favorite home & design blogs"-list here on my Macbook, I usually open all of the blogs that inspire me and leave my comments. But I don't mind clicking over though! :-)
Love, Inge x

Stacy - Clicking through doesn't bother me because I am new to following design blogs - (being addicted to touching the actual magazine pages and all) so I only have a few to view.
I adore your posts and was tickled silly today to find the pages of Katie Lee's (formerly Joel)house here today. I've stalked that brownstone for 2 years now! Nate is awesome! The real delight in the house was that amazing closet. Hope she got the house in the divorce...

Stacy,

Enjoy Nate's natural talent also and unfortunately we as individual's can not be all things to all people (talk show and designer). It's his essense that makes him attractive and he will be a joy no matter what he does next.

I don't have a preference with blogs that serve a duo purpose we all have to be creative in matters of money these days.

love this post! My fav is the one with iris's and a rhino (5th photo down)! As to your question.. I have noticed this with other blogs also and I am not crazy about it. I am more likely to click over if there is at least one photo displayed in my reader. that said, love what you do here!

I really appreciate being able to see the blog while in Google Reader without having to click through. Unfortunately it is less likely that I'll see the post if I have to click over as I do follow alot of posts. I do love your site though and appreciate the time you must spend putting into it.

I like seeing the blog post in my RSS feed file instead of having to click on the link every time. I follow quite a few blogs and I work full time. If I have to click over all the time I will sometime just pass.

I like seeing the blog post all in my feed instead of having to click. I follow a number of blogs, and don't like having to see them in different places. I know, I won't come here too much. Sorry! Love your photos though and hope you decide to switch back.

Hi Stacy, I love your site and I visit on a regular basis. I visit you through my google reader. If there is another way you want to be visited like via email let me know. Certain bloggers I don't mind taking the extra step for if it helps them. I always appreciate you visiting my blog and leaving a comment, not everyone reciprocate like you. I also wanted to know if you have a button I can have on my blog? Thanks, Sherry

It doesn't really annoy me too much, but if I have a busy day and I'm trying to read all my posts by email (50+ at least) then my OCD can get the better of me and I just need to clear my inbox by deleting...!!! So sorry!!
Your posts did catch my eye better before, but you need to do what's best for you. I love your content, and I promise I'll click over as much as I can!! :)

Since you asked, I hate clicking over to the site and loved getting the whole post in one click. However, I understand the need to get revenue and you are providing a service for free. Due to time constraints, I may not click over to your site every time but I do enjoy.

About Nate...Love Nate, hated his show. I don't think the producers showcased his talent as much as they should have. Why were there pieces on his show such as what's in women's purses; Nate helping a woman pick out a dress and other awful pieces like this?

Hope Nate's able to get another show because this one didn't do him justice and I thoroughly enjoyed his appearances on Oprah.

I hate clicking over but will if there is enough on the feed to interest me. Thanks for asking. Love your blog.

I rarely "click thru" i understand why bloggers do it, but I prefer to look at blog posts at work where my computer is bigger and cannot click thru there. So if the post title is not enough to catch my attention, I usually delete, whereas if I can see the entire post on my email preview - I look at them, esp yours!

I get your posts by email, Stacy, and I usually just click over anyway, so it's not a prob for me!
