Design Genius

I remember the moment when I was channel surfing a few years ago and stumbled across Flipping Out on Bravo.   I paused to watch because Jeff Lewis was having a little tantrum about his coffee temperature, and I thought it was kind of funny (and I could almost see myself doing the same on certain days).  After several minutes, I was hooked - not just on Jeff's larger than life personality, but on his undeniable design talent. I remember telling my husband "This is the best show I've ever seen."  He looked at me skeptically, and I guess for good reason (I had just finished watching the series The Wire, which is arguably the best show ever made...if you haven't seen it, you should).  Maybe Flipping Out isn't the best show I've ever seen, but I've enjoyed it as much as any.  Here is some of Jeff's work - I hope you haven't seen it all before, but even if you have, maybe you are like me and enjoy it so much that you could study it over and over again.

Finally, I just wanted to let you know that Judy at DIY by Design featured my lampshades today! I am so thrilled and honored, and hope you will go to her blog to check out all of the amazing projects linked up.  I'm sure you know her blog already, but it can't be beat for wonderful how-to's and DIY projects:

Also, I want to update everyone about why I have not been commenting on your blogs as often as usual.  I have poison ivy on my hands, and it's really hard to type.  Thank goodness this week's post are written and scheduled.  I'll be back as soon as the agony is over.  I hate poison ivy with a vengeance -- it is so miserable :(

Thanks for reading!!

I hope you'll visit my store for Rugs, Lighting, Art, Furniture and more:

Good morning! Jeff is a riot and I find him so darn entertaining....love his show and could watch it over and over (and have many times) especially when I was sick, I never got tired of the reruns!! He is larger than life and sooo funny and that Zoila dynamic is a crack up too. and I love Jenny, she is so cute and sweet...and how about how that witchy client was mistreating her? Made my blood boil!
Jeff is really talented...not my personal style but I have an immense apprecation for how well he does transitional, he is brilliant!

I haven't seen any of this before, thanks for sharing. I think he definitely has a knack for designing kitchens and baths.

Congrats on your feature. Your DIY lampshades are truly gorgeous! I really love it, you did a beautiful job!

Jeff is very fun to watch and I was hooked when they featured this show before the Million Dollar Decorators. sorry about the poison ivy, it is nasty stuff~how did you get it...the dogs can come in with it on them and rub it on you! Hubs has a few spots right now and he hates it. Sounds like you had a bad case. Luckily I never seem to get it.

I've never seen this show, but I really like his style. The finishes and attention to detail are fantastic.
Hope your poison ivy pain subsides soon!
