I didn't like being a teenager, but maybe if I had a room like these I might have liked it more. Probably not, though. A very sweet reader asked me for some ideas about rooms for teenage boys and girls, and I said I'd do a post on it. So here it is... I hope it gives all of you lucky parents of delightful teenagers some ideas.

Know what I love about posts like this? They open the eye to all sorts of decorating possibilities. It's so exciting!
I have two teenagers & a 'tween. I'm always telling them that it's hard to be a teenager. I also always give them a B-Complex (stress-relief) vitamin; seems to help.
yes, I agree with Carole. So many ways to do a room for a teen...and they all have different tastes, so plenty of inspiration to be found. Luckily my mom let me paint my room how I wanted, and I had 3 different shades of purple on the walls and pink woodwork!
Hi Stacy. some gorgeous rooms here. love love quite a few! I am also still stuck on cute kiddies rooms that I found on pinterest! Have to catch up on all your posts...

What great inspiration! I'm working on the little one's big girl room and some of these room would be soooo perfect!
But yes, thank God I'm not a teenager again :D
Never mind the teenagers, I'd like one of those rooms!! I love decorating my kids' rooms. We aren't even finished the 10-year-old's room and her and I are coming up with ideas for the next rendition.
what great inspiration! Im in the middle of re-decorating my daughters bedroom! And can I just admit here- I use to LOVE Pottery Barn Kids catalog and how amazing their rooms were and now the more I have seen & learned about Interior Design -I dont care for their "so well matched" look. I guess I could say my taste are more refined? i dont know I just appreciate rooms now that have a more "collected over time" look. Does that make sense? or am I just weird? LOL
Stacy!
All I have to say is... If I had a room like this when I was a teenager I wouldn't have had left home!! Ha! :-)
I hope you're doing great!

I'm almost 60 (gasp!) and I'd move into almost any of those rooms. I love that design for kids has taken on a more sophisticated look with a touch of whimsey which is so necessary for all of us. There's great inspiration here, and lots of things to study and learn from. Thanks for sharing!
There's one in every group, so I'll be that person...
- most adults would be thankful for rooms like these. Where's the flat screen and keg?
- if a child wants a different look for their bedroom, get them involved with ideas and the work involved in creating it. I was moving my bedroom furniture around at ten. There's a lot kids can do on their own, without the parents spending thousands.
I too was never fond of the teenage years and couldn't wait to get my own place with it's very own cinderblock media center! Those were the days!
Ranting in Sacramento!
Those are some seriously beautiful rooms! As diverse as people themselves.
These are great examples. These rooms are the perfect mix of whimsy and sophistication.
What a fun post, Stacy. I liked how the second one, and others, had a bit of space to lounge...that's my goal for my kids' rooms when they get to that age...of course we'll have a family room too but I think teens want (need?) a bit of living space for their own as they head in the adult direction. Great ideas for my future life!
Wow tons of great rooms here...forget being heavenly for a teenager how about an adult!! That first room is a perfect combination of being chic elegant and "now"....if I had a teenaged girl..that would be the room. So many pretties here though, tons of great inspiration as usual! I will bookmark this to come back to, as I am thrilled you included many boys rooms, equal opportunity!!
So good to be back in blogland, catching up on what I missed!!
I think being a teenager is the pits and I would never do it again! I had a pretty blue and white bedroom (no surprise there!) with lots of white wicker furniture and pretty wallpaper. Actually it would be very "in" now, but everything comes back into fashion every 30-40 years. I love you selection, lots of great spaces for teenagers, to keep them happy, occupied and less sullen!
Nice..Age is but a number. What's more important is that you are happy with where you are right now, who you are right now and what you have become. Life is not a destination, it's a journey. Be happy always...
Do you have any idea where the bed in the 6th picture down is from?? LOVE IT. &would even more LOVE to buy it!!
