I can hardly believe this, but I've never had a striped floor before. Never bought a striped rug, and certainly never painted stripes. I do stripes on walls all the time, but never floors. I think I've been cheating myself! I don't need any new rugs, but I've been wanting to re-do my kitchen floors forever. My husband doesn't want to spend the money, so I keep saying I'm going to paint them. He's really freaked out by that idea (I don't think he appreciates my blossoming DIY skills yet....he's afraid of the outcome, and I can't really say I blame him). But I'm so sick of the orange wood floors. I just might have to paint stripes if we can't refinish them soon. If any of you have painted your floors, I'd love to know if you would do it again or if it was a mistake. Anyway, here are some stripes I've been

I have several striped rugs in my house and love them all! I have yet to try painting a floor with striped but the pictures you shared are very pretty and make me think at some point I might have to give it a try. Can't wait to see what you decide about your floors.
I'm such a sucker for stripes, every pic had me drooling :D You should definitely paint the floors! Ahhh... they'd be gorgeous!
Something so strange happeing with blogger..its not updating some of my favorite blogs!! I do like stripes, but have yet to use them other than in my sons room, though I appreciate and like seeing the bold stripes for me I would have to go more monochromatic with a tone on tone, or soemthing in the more earthy colors, but for some rooms a bolder statement is called for. Great post Stacy!!
PS Like the new look!
Well I don't think painted floors go to well in a new house. I think fine on a rug or a floor cloth, but painted floors belong in old houses I feel. I think you could stain your floors dark and get rid of that orange tone (I know what you mean).
I'm always dying to paint my floors but the only experience I've had it didn't last very long (admittedly I didn't do it properly with lots of primer and things). I've always wanted to try sanding back an old wooden floor and doing stripes using stains - one whitewashed and one darker. That would have to be more durable and not much more work (except for the sanding part!). Can't wait to see what you do!!
I'm a sucker for striped floors too and have no idea why I haven't yet bought a striped rug!
I read your post last night, and this post this morning:

Maybe it's a sign. =) Interesting anyway.
Loved these images! Makes me want to find some floors to paint! I'm loving stripes, too!
I love the painted wood stripes! I'm a huge fan of stripes in general. My husband does not understand painted floors either and we have some ugly orange wood floors in our kitchen that I'm dying to redo. Maybe he'll go out of town for a long weekend soon. ;)
Omgosh we are soooo simpatico!! You have many of the same images that I have in my files. I never met a stripe I did not like. Love all of the wonderful eye candy here!!! I purchased a green and white striped rug for my family room this year and I instantly fell in love with it. Now if I can get a blue and white ticking sofa, I will be a happy camper!! Kathysue
Love the stripes!!!
I look forward to reading your blog everyday!! So many great ideas!!
There's just something about good old wooden floors that appeals to me more than stone, concrete, or metal ones. Adding colors and designs like the ones in these pictures just makes things a whole lot better.
