Tween Girls' Bedroom Reveal in Pink, Blue, and Floral With Built in Bed and Painted Desk (And Source List)

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

After months and months of teasers, here it finally is. Sorry it took so long. Part of that was due to the fact that I couldn't get good images with my old camera. I'll list sources at the end:

The bed was a custom built in. It was built around the existing trundle that we had from Bobby's room. So, that bottom piece is the frame of the trundle bed, and it pulls out for sleepovers:

This ones shows the ceiling light:

There is a pink pillow for the chair, but it mysteriously disappeared:

These are the framed scarves that I made into art:

The monogram is from Etsy and is linked below.

I can't even tell you how much I love this fabric. It makes me happy whenever I see it.

I'm not thrilled with the shadows the light casts, and I'll probably change it at some point. I'll probably also paint inside the bed area in a different color:

The other side (boring):

And the "OK Mommy I finished all the cleaning! My room is ready for your blog" side of the room:

I do like the thin bookcase behind the door. There is also chalkboard paint on the back of the door where her friends write their phone numbers :)

A final look:

Quick Correction:

Yesterday I made a grammatical/sentence structure error where a line about my bedroom read "A quick shot to show you the mirror for my bedroom.  I can't wait to have it painted."

I meant have the bedroom painted, not the mirror, and worded it so badly. Totally my fault, and confusing for readers who emailed and told me I am crazy.  I'm so glad my readers call me out when they think I'm crazy!

THIS is the image of the mirror from the manufacturer:

House Updates and Projects I Love (Colorful Painted Globes, Framed Fabric Art)

Monday, February 2, 2015

My foyer just got painted - here are a few quick photos and then I'll tell you my plans for decorating:
(And a DIY that I love to follow)

I did Cloud White like I always do - my go-to white.

And a few at night:

You can see that the table is back on the landing. Above it, I am going to do something really colorful, either framed scarves or framed fabric. Here are some fabric samples that I'm considering:

The goal is to make it bright cheery like the framed scarves in Ellie' room:

And some other favorite inspiration rooms, all of which show framed silk scarves (Hermes and others):

And a quick shot to show you the mirror that just got delivered for the bedroom. I wish I had the extra money right now to have the room painted. It's literally the last step, but the quotes were a lot. I might do it myself. But in any event, as soon as that is finished I'll do the whole room reveal with colors and sources:

Next, a DIY that I just finished. I mentioned these hand painted globes once before, and showed you one I was working on. I ended up scrapping that one and did these instead because Ellie said she wanted smaller ones. So I bought the globes at Home Goods and used acrylic paints form Michael's, a gold paint pen, and clear gloss spray to finish them. I need to spray the bases gold and I'll be done. But since they are 95% done here, I thought I'd show you:

The first one is meant to be sort of accurate, and the smaller one is just flowers and sayings I like for her ("Though she be but little, she is fierce" and "He offered her the world but she said she already had her own.")

Ellie loves them more than I expected her to, so I'm really glad I did them.
Aren't they cute?

Finally, one  shot I just took of Ellie being sweet :)
She spent this snow day "crimping" her hair with her friend (hello 80's) - see it on the left?

That's all.....see you tomorrow with Ellie's bedroom reveal (finally)!

Do-It-Youself Colorful Framed Wall Art

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

First, this is where I found the scarf I cut up and framed in Ellie's room (but you could use any scarf really, I just love the colors in this one).  One scarf did these 6 pieces pretty comfortably:

Here they are in her room (you can see the original post with more information HERE):

And with the final panels for the bed installed:

Super easy, super affordable!

Moving on, how was everyone's weekend? What an amazing one we just had. We had a big party Saturday night and then went to a party hosted by a friend on the water Sunday. Patrick worked so hard on our yard, and it looks the best it has ever looked. We wanted our gathering to be outside, but we moved in when the temperature dropped to 50.  All of that landscaping on the wall is new and I'm sure our next gathering will be outdoors:

This is Sunday at the beach party - it was amazing.  Our friend has a big seawall and steps down to the beach. I didn't take a lot of photos because I was having too much fun, but here is one selfie:

Next, I wanted to share some rooms I'm loving today:
