Please indulge me while I write about the homes of my youth (again). Although I don't decorate this way in my own home (and my childhood home, although warm and loving and beautiful, was not in the same league as these), the pull of Cape Cod will never leave me.

I remember hanging out (and jumping from) bridges like this on long summer days that we thought would never end.  If you haven't jumped from a bridge like this (although this one's kind of small), you've missed out on a real thrill in life in my book:

One of my good friends had a back porch like this when I was a teenager.  A perfect place to spend long afternoons talking about boys and how awful our parents were :)

How gorgeous is this!?

We drove by this house on the way to my wedding ceremony, and I remember feeling so lucky, for so many reasons:

I used a painter on the Cape once who asked me "Are you gonna do Cape Cod Yellow everywhere?" (I didn't).  This is the Cape Cod yellow he painted on almost every project -- warm and sunny and perfect:

Cape Cod in the fall is my favorite place on earth:

Beautiful memories of summer's past. I have not been to Cape Cod but did spend time in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and found both very special.
Cape Cod next time I promise

There's nothing quite as charming as a Cape Cod home. My husband and I live in NC, but get to Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard at least every other summer - my dream vacation. The gardens and views are spectacular!!
