Today I am so inspired by a recent post on by Kev and Layla at The Lettered Cottage. They used design software (and TONS of vision) to make this:

Pretty amazing, right?
So I got to thinking about other amazing fireplaces. Here are some great ones, falling everywhere from ultra-sleek and modern to as traditional as can be: :

I love the look of built-ins squeezed into smallish spaces like the ones surrounding this fireplace. It adds a touch of the unexpected and makes the room look so complete.

I've seen this next room dozens of times, and every time I do, I like it more and more. In addition to the woodwork over the mantel, I really like how the designer used glass in the side walls rather than the half walls like you might expect to see.

Even painted white or plain brick looks great with the right accessories:

Just like in the first photo from The Lettered Cottage, this one has an off-center fireplace. I think it looks perfect in this room:
Shabby-chic done right:
I can't think of anything better than an outdoor fireplace like this one on a cool spring night, glass of wine in hand, surrounded by family and friends!

I love how Nate Berkus adds a quirky element to all of his rooms, like the ardvark(?) on the mantel!
