California Dream Beach House With Navy, White, and Green Decor and Vibrant Pops of Color

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

This house was designed by San Diego based firm AGK Design Studio. They are amazing at coastal style homes. I found the site because I was looking for images of rugs for my family room, and one of their projects features the one I think I am going to buy (the Caitlin Wilson one if I can get it made in the right blue). I just need it to be a bit more teal:

Isn't it pretty?

Anyway, of course I poured over the entire portfolio. This was made favorite house, but you can view them all at the link above:

Isn't that something?

Before you go....here is what is in my sidebar these days. There is a lot to see:

Gulf of Mexico Dream Home

Monday, April 16, 2012

True story:
Me, to my six year old daughter:  "Honey, you are so pretty! I wish I was as beautiful as you are."
Daughter: "That's ok Mommy. [pause] I'm sure you used to be."
I don't have a segue after that one. So, I saw this home for sale on the Gulf of Mexico and instantly fell in love. I love everything about this house! I hope you enjoy this little tour:

I also ran across these images of a gorgeous living room and dining room of another home for sale in Texas. Aren't these amazing?  I love the openness and the windows:

Quintessential Cape Cod

Monday, June 20, 2011

decorating, design, interior decorating, interior design, interior design blog, best design blog, best interior design blogs, foyers, doors, best interior designers, white rooms, family room, living room, kitchen, bedroom, south shore decorating

Please indulge me while I write about the homes of my youth (again). Although I don't decorate this way in my own home (and my childhood home, although warm and loving and beautiful, was not in the same league as these), the pull of Cape Cod will never leave me.

I remember hanging out (and jumping from) bridges like this on long summer days that we thought would never end.  If you haven't jumped from a bridge like this (although this one's kind of small), you've missed out on a real thrill in life in my book:

One of my good friends had a back porch like this when I was a teenager.  A perfect place to spend long afternoons talking about boys and how awful our parents were :)

How gorgeous is this!?

We drove by this house on the way to my wedding ceremony, and I remember feeling so lucky, for so many reasons:

I used a painter on the Cape once who asked me "Are you gonna do Cape Cod Yellow everywhere?" (I didn't).  This is the Cape Cod yellow he painted on almost every project -- warm and sunny and perfect:

Cape Cod in the fall is my favorite place on earth:
