Holiday Mantels.... and Why I Must be Out of my Mind

Sunday, December 4, 2011

So, it's the busiest time of the year for everyone, right? Shopping, working, parties, getting together with family, etc., etc. And as a decorator, it's my busiest time because everyone wants their project done before Christmas. So what do I do? I volunteer to do my fifth grader's yearbook. The whole thing, all by myself. What was I thinking? I know I'll be glad in the long run, and I do love graphic design, but I'm spending half my life scanning photos these days, which is why I haven't been around as much as I'd like. So, for those who might be wondering, I haven't abandoned blogland - I'll be back just as soon as I can, and hope you'll bear with me in the meantime.

Isn't it amazing the way holiday decorating can absolutely transform a house?  I'll admit that it's a lot of work, and sometimes I am tempted to do just the mantel (and the tree of course).  I always start with the mantel, thinking that it is all I will do, but then it looks so beautiful that I get inspired to decorate the rest of the house.  Here are some mantels that are inspiring me this year:

Stacy,

Lovely mantels decor enough variety to use for many years and never revert back to the same ones. In fact this post could be printed out and pictures tucked into the x-mas decor storage boxes always at the ready for the next season. Great post!

Interior designers utilize a number of design elements including color, texture, furniture and lighting to achieve a specific look. If you want their home to looks great, then paint your home in the prefect colors combination. Color combination plays an important role in interior design as it helps create the ambiance of a home.

Holiday designs really tend to look busy, for some reason it gets people into the "season feeling" even more. You've done a fantastic job with these.
