One Thing (of many) That I've Never Had

Saturday, September 3, 2011

I've never had a bed canopy. I love them, but I met my husband when I was 19, so every home I've had since then has been with him. And he hates bed canopies. I vaguely recall that they are "too girly" or something.  So I just put them out of my head. But they are beautiful, aren't they?  Ok, so this first one is a bit crazy... it must have been a photo shoot for something I guess... but I just had to show you:

Do any of you have bed canopies?  I'd love to see if you want to send photos in -- I haven't yet published reader photos, but I'm starting to get a lot by email, and I'd love to post them if you send them.  Just make sure you tell me if you are sending it just to show me but don't want it published.

Thanks for reading!!

Stacy...oh such beautiful examples of a look I personally love but think my husband finds it a bit too frou frou for his taste! I think they are stunning and sooo inviting, it could be dangerous as I might never want to leave my bed!! Have a great long weekend!!

What beautiful rooms. I could sleep in many of those beds. I don't think my husband would agree though, I know he would think they are to frilly.

I'd feel like a blog queen in these beautiful beds. You must had a higher ceiling though or else it can appear as though the canopy is supporting the ceiling.

19! Wow! You were a youngster when you met! I love a good love story. Canopy or no canopy!

LOL - I love them and my hubby feels the same way -

I think they are the most romantic addition to any bed - they create such a dreamy cocoon!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

I have never had one either and I think my husband would definitely veto one, but I would really enjoy crawling into one after a rough day, as well as sleeping in on a lazy Saturday morning!

Same story with me Stacy. I love the luxury and romance that they add but my husband would never go for it. These are all really beautiful. Sigh!!!

I love bed canopies! They can be so chic and glamorous. I bet they can be made a bit more masculine if they are tailored and the fabric is not flowing too much. The room with the green walls and ceiling, from the HGTV dream home, would be a perfect blend of feminine and masculine! Happy Weekend!

That's funny. Up until recently I would have agreed with your husband, but I've since come around. Maybe he will too?

I love canopy beds! We have one in our previous house but since we moved, we still haven't put up our four poster bed yet. (waiting for hubby to install the hardwood floors, and that will be during winter) Sigh...I miss my bed very much.

Gorgeous images, by the way!

These are so pretty but with our pets, don't think it would be so practical, also would worry about dust! The less house work the better!

I would love a canopy as well! I love that all white room with the slightest peach canopy. If I ever have a baby girl her crib is getting a canopy and/or a regal bed crown.

Life without a canopy bed just isn't worth living. OK, you are probably attached to hubs or divorce would cut into your budget here is the solution, the guest room. Go crazy, what you can't afford that's ready made, make yourself with help either from hubs or a carpenter. I did. I kept my dream alive and now, some 25 years later that canopy bed still brings me the little girl thrill it did when I first draped it in sheers and white lace. I keep it fluffed and looking up to the minute with expensive sheets and pillows. My family photographs all hang on one wall in tribute to the dear people who live forever in my heart. That room holds my dreams and keeps bringing me a renewal of faith that beauty is its own reason for being.
