Bold and Daring Choices in a Beacon Hill Residence by Dee Elms

Newport, Favorite Restaurant, and Plain and Fancy Rooms

I have quite a mix of rooms for you today. But first I wanted to share some photos from a trip my husband and I took to Newport this weekend. We basically ate and drank and shopped. We have lived close by for a long time, so we have done the mansions, the Cliff Walk, and seen a lot of local bands, which is all great fun. But this weekend we wanted to just kick back and relax. We even took a nap one day! But mostly we ate.....

The food in Newport is amazing, especially at 22 Bowen, which is one of my favorite restaurants ever and one we always go to when in Newport. It's right in the heart of downtown on the water. The first image is the outdoor bar and restaurant, and  the second is the full restaurant just across the walkway:

50 Favorites for Friday: Kitchens

Today's 50 Favorites are all from traditional Home (here). I have been looking at kitchens a lot lately because we really need to at least reface ours. We are hoping to do it this winter, but it's going to be budget driven of course. Sometimes I feel like my house is falling down around me, and it kind of is. All houses are I think. Unless you repair and replace all the time, things break and age and wear down. I know some people who spend incredible amounts on keeping their homes new, and even they say they are overwhelmed by how much work it really is. But better to be grateful for what we have and tackle projects as we can, I think, so I don't actually give it a ton of thought most days.

Ok, I wanted to also let you all know that the huge rush in August for design work is under control now (I was pretty stressed for a few weeks, which you can see when I don't add commentary to my posts.) What I Love Wednesday: Tamara Anka at Citrine Living

This blog, Citrine Living by Tamara Anka, is well worth the read.  Tamara is a Canadian designer that I really admire. Her sense of style is clean, fresh, and inspired, and her taste impeccable. Take a look and let me know if you agree! 

And a few(!) things I want (here). I'm trying so hard not to buy things I don't need, but come on... these are so cute! Handbags and shoes really are my first love I guess....
