Personal Updates and New Beautiful Rooms

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Last night I happened upon an article about blogs, and in particular, why people stop following them. The general gist was when they start becoming too corporate (writing for sponsors rather than readers), people got turned off. Well, I promise I will never stop over sharing, especially about my house obsessions.  Currently, I'm still obsessed with the bedroom, and am still waiting for the light. Then I have to paint, but that's been sidetracked for a while.

Why? Because I have MONO. Yup. I've been feeling really crappy for a while, and finally went in looking for an antibiotic, but no luck.  At least I know what I have, which is a relief.

This part actually made me laugh pretty hard though -- when you google mono, this is what it says:

Mono causes fever, body aches, head ache, sore throat, enlarged glands, extreme fatigue, and your spleen can explode.

Um, excuse me?  Don't I need my spleen!?

Then it goes on to say "Exploding spleen is an emergency event."

Okaaaaay.
If anything inside explodes, you can bet I'll go to the hospital. Who wouldn't? I can't help but ask who that sentence was written for. Darrel from Walking Dead maybe? Clint Eastwood? Chuck Norris?

Anyway, exploding spleen is pretty rare I guess, and I don't do extreme sports or anything, so I'm thinking it'll be ok. But I might not be posting as frequently for a while. On the upside, I get to "rest a lot," which I think calls for some new Frette sheets, amiright?

I follow you over on G+ which brought me here today. First, I hope your spleen doesn't explode, second, order those sheets and have a good rest. Third, that black and white staircase would make me dizzy and then I would probably fall and break something and end up having to get those sheets to rest and recover from whatever I broke! Actually, I am glad I came by today, what lovely rooms! I LOVE that kitchen and wish I had one that big! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Oh no! I had mono for an entire year in high school. FYI, it's not supposed to last that long. I think it's because I would feel okay and then relapse after a night out. Mono was not going to stop me from a party! Oh, and my spleen is still intact. ;) Don't do what I did, although I can't see you drinking beer around a bonfire. Take it easy!

Sorry you have mono. I hope your spleen holds on a while longer. hehe. Looking through the photos I got caught up at that geometric winding staircase. I positively could not walk down that staircase. I'm sure my eyes would go all haywire and I would end up falling down them...all of them. hahahaha. Get better soon!

I'm sorry to hear you are sick. My daughter had mono years ago. Just be careful because it can sometimes fool you into thinking you are clear, and then it's back.

I'm still trying to write on a consistent basis and in general write better, to attract followers. I'm just not dedicated enough. I get why people stop following when too many sponsor posts are written.
Maybe this is a good time to tell you that I follow your blog because you bring so many great decor images forward, you share wonderful stories about your family - and your honest.
I enjoy your blog and pinterest.

thanks.

Mono? I had mono in high school and was out for two weeks. Missed a big senior night event, broke out in hives when the doc gave me penicillin, and was basically a hot mess. REST on some pretty new sheets. :-)

We're dealing with a virus from hell that appears to be highly contagious and has a tendency to make more than one appearance. Started in my brother-in-law's house over Thanksgiving and spread like wildfire even though we left early. I was out of commission for a week.

Hang in there!

So sorry to hear you're unwell Stacey. I've never heard of Mono or of exploding spleens! Gotta laugh at what google throws up sometimes. Agree you definitely NEED those new Frette sheets...hope you're feeling better soon. x KL

I hope you feel better soon, and my fingers are crossed that your spleen stays intact.

I think the only reasons I've ever stopped reading a blog were if the tone changed or if they suddenly only had sponsored posts. Some people can make sponsored posts work; in my experience most can't. If I really like a blog I'll go back and read it from the beginning, and I hate it when those change for the worse.

Oh no! Hope you recover quickly! I love your posts and totally agree with that article! I DO lose interest when a blog becomes an online advertisement! However, yours isn't that way at all! Just keep on keeping on!Laura
