LIVING ROOM LOVE
Sunday, October 30, 2016
I like this collection of images because I think most of the rooms are pretty attainable. It's such a busy yime of year, so attainable is good, right!?
Ryan Street and Associates Favorites
Tuesday, October 25, 2016
Even if you don't know the name, I'm sure you'll have seen some of the work of Ryan Street & Associates. The room above is from the Houston Oaks Club - one of my favorite features of all time. It couldn't be further from the way I decorated my home, but I love it nonetheless. Here are some of my other favorites from RS and Associates:
Oldies But Goodies
Monday, October 24, 2016
Lately, even more so than usual, my Pinterest feed has been filled with images I remember from at least five years ago. I can't get started again on how much I hate Pinterest lately, so I'll try to look on the positive side. Here goes: "Wow I haven't seen that room in years and it's fun to see it again." So here is a collection of rooms that I'm sure you've all seen, but that I think are interesting to look back on with 2016 eyes. Do you still love them? All of these are ones that I still admire.
DESIGN COMPANY TO KNOW: VIYA HOME
Saturday, October 22, 2016
Have you all heard of Viya Home? If you read shelter magazines as often as I do, I am sure you've seen their ads. They are a very high end maker of tables, sculptures, and lighting. I had never been on their website before, but stumbled to it from Pinterest the other night. I thought I'd show you their magnificent pieces and installations. Like I said, it's super high end. Prices aren't listed, which means I can't afford it for myself, but I'm thinking probably thousands for tables. I think they are fun to look at even though out of the vast majority of people's price range. What do you think of their work?
50 FAVORITES FOR FRIDAY 10.20.16
Thursday, October 20, 2016
I recognize this pink sofa image from years and years ago, but think it is every bit as relevant today given the massive trend toward pink in the home this year. I'm as obsessed as ever with pink. Are you all loving it too? I'd love to know if you are recently loving it, hating it, ready to move on, etc. I know I have a few readers who comment on every post I write about the color of the year. I really enjoy your comments so please keep them coming.
Here are the 50 Favorites:
THURSDAY EYE CANDY
Wednesday, October 19, 2016
I really like the more modern furniture in the room above juxtaposed with the classic architectural elements and millwork. Most of this collection, though, is strictly traditional rooms - what I seem to be gravitating towards. Enjoy!
WHAT I LOVE WEDNESDAY: CLASSIC ROOMS
Tuesday, October 18, 2016
Those of you in a browser (as opposed to email) might notice the new blog design here. I hope you like it. If you are in email and want to click over, you can click the post title or here.
There is a lot I love about this collection, but two things stand out to me: the colors and the traditional lines of the pieces in most of the rooms. I hope you enjoy!
A Chair for Anywhere: The Iconic IKEA Tobias Chair
Sunday, October 16, 2016
I know I am by far the first to write about this, but it is as true today as ever. The IKEA Tobias chair works as well in every room as it ever did. My favorite use is when it is mixed in unexpectedly, like in the image above, or in so many below (the rustic kitchen in particular). It is beautiful, inexpensive, and easy to clean. A keeper for sure.

Fabulous Fall
Wednesday, October 12, 2016
All of these rooms have some elements that remind me of fall, from velvet to moodier colors to natural elements. I think some of them are really good examples of how rooms can indicate a darker season without being dark themselves. Enjoy!
Weekend in Cancun
Tuesday, October 11, 2016
I got home last night from a long weekend at a new resort in Cancun called Breathless. About 30 people from my town went because we are all friends with the travel agent (here) who arranged it. It was so incredible, as you'll be able to tell from the photos. The first ones are stock photos, but you'll soon be able to tell which are mine because of the bad quality ;)
Some of you may remember that I started going to all inclusives with my friend a couple of years ago. I have been to one in Jamaica (here) and two in Cancun now (here is the other one). I liked different aspects of all three and could never pick my favorite. I just know that I am a fan and will do them again. These resorts are so different than the old Beaches and Sandals ones (NOT a fan).... just look and you'll see what I mean. I highly recommend if you are looking for a vacation...
Bohemian Bedroom Bliss (Anthropologie)
Monday, October 10, 2016
These might all be from Anthropologie - I recognize most of them and the few others are what came up in the search. I might have a new client (she hasn't hired me yet but I hope she does) that is doing a boho beach house. It's gorgeous and I really hope I get to work on it. There is going to be a hammock in the living room, very casual and beachy. Picture a retreat in Bali. So I have been looking at boho rooms and thought I'd show you some:
Less is More, More is More, Or Somewhere in the Middle?
Monday, October 3, 2016
Where do you fall? Here are ten examples that I think of as "More is More," "Less is More," and "Somewhere in the Middle." I'd love to hear what you think. I am firmly in the middle.
Less is more?
Anthropologie, Ikea, and West Elm Mix = True Beauty
Sunday, October 2, 2016
This is a home in Chicago that I stumbled across. Isn't it gorgeous? And it is on a pretty modest budget, too. There are a couple of high end pieces, but they are literally mixed in with things from Ikea. That is how I like to do it, too!
